Nicotine Patches

What is a Nicotine Patch?

A nicotine patch is a small sticking plaster that is stuck to your skin. Nicotine patches come in a few different dosages e.g. 21mg, 14mg, and 7mg, this way you can start from the highest to the lowest dose and phase out the need for nicotine.

Make sure that you follow the exact directions as specified by the Nicotine patch manufacturer to give you the best chance to quit smoking.

How do they Work?

Nicotine patches stop the strong cravings you feel for a cigarette, by supplying the body with small regulated amounts of nicotine. The nicotine in the patch is slowly released through the pores of the skin over a 16 to 24 hour period. As the need for nicotine reduces you simply change to a smaller patch, fazing out your body’s demand to crave nicotine.

Side Effects?

One of the most common side effects to using Nicotine Patches are vivid dreams, while this can be a bit off putting at first, the vivid dreams settle down with continued use, some users actually enjoy their dreams more whilst using patches, having no adverse side effects.

Itching skin and inflammation around the area you stick your nicotine patch is also very common, but again this itching usually settles down within 30 minutes to an hour after applying.
